About Me

I'm a web applications developer in Chicago. This is my personal site and sandbox where I play around with web technology and even occasionally 'blog.' When I'm not at work you can probably find me at the gym, noodling on a guitar, or enjoying a fine beer.

Beer

November 18th, 2010

The new beer is delicious! 4th time's a charm I guess. I opened up the first one last weekend after two weeks conditioning in the bottle. Ideally the batch should condition for three weeks or so, but I was surprised at how well it had turned out. Should be a fun weekend coming up!

I'm not at all looking forward to experiencing the TSA's new 'enhanced' security at O'Hare. Up until now I'd been able to opt out of the naked scanners with only a cursory pat-down. We'll see how it goes. I'm only flying out of Midway in the future.

A Personal Record

May 4th, 2012

\"ravenswood

Well, I\'ve mostly recovered from last Sunday\'s Ravenswood Run 5k and I\'m proud to report that I\'ve set a new personal record of 21 minutes and 27 seconds (6:55 per mile avg.). That time is well below my stated goal of 22 minutes but not quite at my secret goal of 21 minutes. I was pretty close though and I feel good about my effort.

This is, in fact, my first official PR ever seeing as I\'ve never run two races of the same distance before. And it looks like it will be my only official PR this year because the next three races on the list are new distances for me as well. I guess that means I\'ll have to hold onto this one for a while.

Can you remember?

No, I haven't forgotten about this thing. I made this site so easy to add to, and of course I don't....

The winter is (hopefully) winding down, I'm on my second batch of home-brewed beer, and I've been remarkably busy at work. All good things I guess. At some point I turned 27. Anyway, blogs are mostly stupid, so I'm out for now.
